I'm really liking the idea of doing a garden tour

I'm really liking the idea of doing a garden tour every month, even when it seems like there's not much going on. Is that something anyone would be interested in? The showstopper in November is definitely the Japanese maples 🍁🍁🍁 (Bloodgood and Fireglow) with an honorable mention going to the heuchera and brunnera. They still look so full of life! Even the roses might keep going until it starts snowing. In other news, my poor gnome holding a birdbath met an unfortunate end (slippery hands 😭) and I dug up all the dusty miller and repotted them in the greenhouse. I'm seeing if they'll survive till next year because traditionally, they last well into the winter for me. And finally, all my garden buddies are tucked away in the greenhouse where they can keep a watchful eye on the garden all winter 🥰🥰🥰

For the past couple of years, I couldn't really relate to the way fashion was evolving. I couldn't get into the new styles and what's typically available at most stores, and I didn't feel like my old style completely reflected who I had become. I honestly believed that fashion just wasn't for me anymore. I thought maybe it was a North American fashion thing 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I was in Geneva and Lyon this summer, and I felt the same. Then I got to Paris and it's kind of cliched, but I felt fashion speaking to me again! This outfit is from Paris, and it's not trendy (and gives granny trying to be hip with the kids???) but I love it 🥰 All this to say, I'm inspired and excited to try new things and experiment with my style again. Thanks Paris, I guess???

They make it so easy to learn about the Huron-Wendat Nation up in Wendake. There's a hotel with museum attached (they do guided tours in English and French), they propose cultural activities that are kid friendly...most of the reconciliation work I've been doing on a personal level had been via books and social media, but I've been trying to find an engaging way to introduce the kids to First Nations peoples and this was really well-suited for that! I do have mixed feelings about how "successful" the Huron-Wendat Nation seems from a modern, colonialist perspective. It seems mostly due to the vast majority of them being wiped out (their population went from 35,000 to 3,000) and then those that survived having assimilated completely into Quebec culture (they were even spared from residential school because they had converted to Catholicism and went to school already). Maybe I've got it all wrong (they were able to save enough of their culture to have a museum and tourism after all) but it feels like a real shame that this type of modern "success" pretty much required total assimilation. Nevertheless, I highly recommend checking Wendake out for your next road trip (or visit to Quebec). So much to learn and think about!

Working from home's crazy 'cause I'll get dressed

Working from home's crazy 'cause I'll get dressed in a respectable outfit and do a smokey eye, but I'll only wear giant, cozy reading socks or giant New Zealand sheep slippers. Wearing shoes is the worst part of going out tbh, it's a big part of why I hate going to the movie theatre or anywhere where I have to stand for long periods. If I can't be wrapped in a blanket and put up my feet (which, as established, are in nothing but cozy socks that are not meant to be worn with shoes) I don't wanna go 😭
