Best Red Lipsticks

Nothing makes me feel feistier than a red lip. They say that red lips for your wedding is a tricky gamble, it can be messy, it can be loud… But when I got married last year, I just knew I needed a bright red lip to feel whole. Even before I got super into makeup in the past few years, red lipstick was my go-to makeup look.

I’m always trying new products and going through phases with makeup. I used to be all about the matte lip, but I don’t know if it was how dry my lips got this winter, but for the past few months, I’ve been mostly sporting a juicier, glossy pout. The YSL lip stain in 401 was my go-to for an easy-chic look. It’s so shiny and opaque! I hate the smell of all the YSL lipsticks, but again, I prefer all my cosmetics to be scent free. The colour is just so beautiful that I look past that little detail. When I feel like going back to the matte look for a day, Stila’s Fiery is my go-to. It’s such a beautiful deeper blue-based red. I normally go for a warm red, but there’s something about this shade that really speaks to me.

And although orangey-reds used to be my jam, lately I’ve been more obsessed with the pinky-reds. Gazpacho by Bite Beauty is one of my all-time favourite lipstick formulas. The rich pigment and creaminess of this formula blew my mind when I first tried it. And the fact that it stays pretty much all day even though it’s not long-wearing and doesn’t dry out your lips? I can be quite skeptical of higher end beauty products because a lot of the time, a cheaper product does the job just as well. But I never knew lipsticks could be this good.

And finally, Marcelle’s Rouge Xpression Cream Lipstick in 901. It’s a more warm red, goes on with a bit of slip, holds a juicy shine and has been in my collection for at least three years or so. Even though I don’t wear it that often, I can’t bring myself to throw it out. It’s the perfect retro red lip that I think would work on a lot of people.

What are some of your go-to red lipsticks? I’m always dying to try new ones. A lip addicts collection is never complete…

xoxo
